Sin Límites New Works Festival
A celebration of New Mexican Playwrights
Coming February 2026
Think outside the (black)box...
Sin Límites: (adj.) boundless, without limits.
With the generous support of Visit Albuquerque and the Urban Enhancement Trust Fund,
Duke City Repertory Theatre is proud to launch the Sin Límites New Works Festival, a first-of-its-kind celebration of New Mexican playwrights.
Since 2014, our work has been seen outside of traditional theater spaces: in breweries, museums, backyards, farms, and beyond. That exploration led to the birth of Sin Límites: a first-of-its-kind celebration of works that can be produced and performed beyond the confines of brick and mortar and written specifically by New Mexican playwrights.
What does “beyond the bricks and mortar” mean?
It means plays that don’t require spectacle, plays that are as at home in a blackbox theater as they are in a parking lot, cafe patio, or a living room. We’re looking for polished, character-driven stories that examine and celebrate the human condition.
*Please note: Sin Límites 2026 is the pilot year of this festival. Our goal for 2026 is to platform and amplify new works and new voices. As Sin Límites grows, our focus will evolve in its commitment to the development of new works. Future festival seasons will include dramaturgical support for playwrights before, during, and after the production process.
Submissions are now closed.
Eligibility Requirements
-
The calls are open to all playwrights who currently live in New Mexico. There are limited submission spaces for those who have previously resided in New Mexico, but we will not be accepting unsolicited submissions from those who do not currently reside in the state.
-
Playwrights must be 18 years old or older.
-
We will accept One-Act and Micro Play scripts

-
Micro Plays are defined as approximately 10 pages in length and utilizing no more than 3 actors. Micro Play scripts must not exceed 15 pages.
-
-
By submitting work to a specific call (One-Act or Micro Play), applicants affirm 1. They are the sole or co-creator of the piece, and 2. The script meets the particular criteria. Please review all calls to determine the best place for your work.
-
Sin Límites supports all styles and genres of theatre. However, in this inaugural session, we do not have the capacity to accept musicals or plays with music.
-
All readings will be performed in non-traditional venues. Locations will be determined by Duke City Repertory Theatre prior to the festival; all submissions should be flexible in terms of the exact performance space.
-
Submitted works must not have had a professional production before February 1st, 2026. Works that have had previous development workshops, readings, or staged readings are welcome.
-
One submission per playwright.
Selected playwrights will receive a stipend and a professional staged reading of their work. All casting and director positions will be filled by Duke City Repertory Theatre from a pool of local theatre artists.
Submission/Selection Process

There is no fee to submit.
-
Submissions will open at 8 am on Monday, October 6th, 2025 and will close at 11:59 pm on November 6th, 2025.
